I’ve been waiting for a good excuse to visit this harbour side restaurant – it was worth the wait. In a short space of time I’ve now dinned at Rick Stein Sandbanks twice, both times to celebrate Birthdays, and both visits were a huge success. The restaurant re-fit received positive feedback and a lot of press since the launch a few months ago, so it’s currently the place to be seen eating in Sandbanks.
Rick Stein Sandbanks has a lovely contemporary seaside feel to the restaurant. And it’s split into two parts. The front section is more relaxed with a bar and seating area. This is a great meeting place should you be dining with a large group, or just fancy a tipple after a walk along the beach. The dining area has tables with a view over the harbour – you must visit whilst the sun is setting to appreciate the stunning views.
Shown to an excellent table with a view over the harbour, service was very smooth and friendly. Clearly we all chose fish dishes, why go to Rick Stein’s otherwise. Each of us were all very happy with our starters, beautiful scallops in particular. Mains were all delicious from lemon sole to salmon to the largest crab I have seen (apologies for the lack of food photography, I was enjoying the delights too much to snap away). Rounded off by delicious desserts and accompanied by very good wines. We would all definitely come again.
The meal was excellent value and the whole experience was a highlight of what Sandbanks has to offer. Do visit Rick Stein Sandbanks to make a reservation, it’s a popular destination for locals so tables do go quick!
