Everyone already has a good winter coat in their wardrobe, maybe even a few, but there comes a time when your favourite outerwear has seen better days and you need to buy a new one… which is not the easiest purchase. A good winter coat is an investment and you are going wear it for several years. So, if you are a conscious shopper like me, you should choose one that suits you perfectly. Here’s my favourite styles which are definitely worth the investment, these are timeless looks which you should definitely consider when shopping:
The Military Coat – A favourite on the catwalks. Think crisp cuts, strong shoulders, brass buttons and piping.
The Cocoon Coat – Oversized proportions and modern cuts combine with soft edges to create this season’s cosiest silhouette. A great style for ladies of all shape and sizes.
The Trench Coat – AW16 sees the return of the iconic mac. Classic lengths and modern cropped styles are reworked for the season in new materials. Do have a look at my recent Wrapped Up and Ready for Winter post to see a great example of this updated look.
The Longline Coat – There’s nothing more comforting than wrapping up in a longline coat. The slim silhouette and minimal look makes this a sophisticated way to wrap-up for winter.
Focusing on the longline style coat I’ve decided to feature the Wrap Collar Coat from Reiss. As you step out into the winter chill this beautifully designed coat will keep out the cold and the Hutton style is a sophisticated way to do so. Its slim silhouette is minimal yet authoritative and its soft parchment hue is especially timeless. You can even leave your scarf at home as the stand-up wrap collar will make a strong enough statement and keep out the chill.
