I have to say there’s noting quite like a weekend getaway, packing those few essentials ready to discover a new location; art, culture, seaside air and good food is the perfect recipe for my ideal break. So when Marianne contact me from Boskerris St Ives in Cornwall, clearly it was a no brainer to take her up on the invitation to stay at her boutique hotel. And the timing couldn’t have been better with it being my mum’s Birthday. It was the perfect treat for us both and the ideal way to re-connect.
The Boskerris is a contemporary, boutique hotel with a relaxed Mediterranean style. You may have already seen from my Instagram posts each an every part of the hotel is picture worthy, including the food too. I have to say the outstanding panoramic ocean views made waking up in the morning an absolute delight. The hotel is nestled in the Cornish coastline, on the edge of St Ives. Discreetly set in a unique position, the decked terrace is the perfect point to admire the views across St Ives Bay from Godrevy Lighthouse to St Ives harbour. With breakfast included in the package, I have to recommend their french toast with grilled banana and crispy bacon – this alone is worth returning for. After consuming a generous breakfast, it was time to head out and discover the wonders of St Ives. Thankfully the ever helpful Boskerris team had already provided me with advice and information on all the top places to visit before and during my stay.
Just below The Boskerris Hotel is Carbis Bay beach, here you can pick up the coastal path for a beautiful walk into St Ives. The route is a little hilly so I would suggest packing good walking shoes. This is something which I didn’t prepare for, but I have to say, I was impressed that I didn’t get any blisters from my new Boden boots! Should you get the chance to visit St Ives I would recommend visiting the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden for culture, the Two Seasons Gallery for art and Porthminster Cafe for the best seafood with ocean views.
The whole Boskerris experience from start to finish was consistently excellent. From the initial welcome, the thoughtful Birthday card for my mum, gorgeous detailed coastal decor, stunning views, helpful tips and of course the delicious breakfasts. If I could come back every weekend I would! The Boskerris is currently closed for refurbishment, but when it reopens next season, I would recommend booking quickly as this privately owned boutique hotel fills-up quickly. You never know, I may even see you there!
